Indonesia Kirim 7 Pendaki ke Madrid untuk Speed Climbing

Seven Indonesian climbers left Jakarta for Madrid, Spain, on Wednesday, 27 Mei 2024, sore WIB. They will compete in the World Climbing Series held in Alcobendas.

The team is split into men and women. The men’s squad consists of Veddriq Leonardo, Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, Raharjati Nursamsa, and Aditya Tri Syahria. Kiromal Katibin is absent because of an injury.

The women’s squad includes Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Rajiah Salsabillah, and Berthdigna Devi Surya Kusuma.

All seven athletes will compete in the speed climbing event for both genders. The competition is expected to be intense.

"Untuk speed, ini merupakan seri kedua di musim ini. Tentu kami ingin lebih baik dari seri pertama di Wujiang karena ini juga menjadi bagian dari persiapan kita menghadapi Asian Games nanti," ujar Pelatih Speed Galar Pandu Asmoro.

The athletes aim to improve on their previous result at Wujiang, China, where Indonesia earned only one bronze medal, won by Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi.

The World Climbing Series is the second event of the season and serves as preparation for the upcoming Asian Games.

Indonesia’s climbers hope to build on past achievements and demonstrate the rewards of their training in the upcoming series.
