Truk Bertabrakan di Pantura, Balita 5 Tahun Meninggal

On 17 Mei 2026 at 14.45 WIB, a fatal collision involving two trucks occurred on the Pantura Situbondo route, near Desa Pasir Putih in Kecamatan Bungatan. The crash left a 5‑year‑old child dead after being trapped in the dashboard of one of the vehicles.

Both trucks were traveling eastward from Surabaya toward Banyuwangi. The first vehicle, a diesel truck with registration DK 8824 TD, was driven by GA (51), a resident of Buleleng, Bali. The second truck, a Fuso with registration DK 8784 GT, was steered by SH (61), who hails from Kecamatan Wongsorejo, Banyuwangi.

According to the preliminary investigation, the incident appears to stem from driver negligence. “Hasil penyelidikan awal, diduga karena kelalaian pengemudi truk,” said Ipda Hariyanto, head of the Situbondo Police Traffic Unit. He added that the driver of the DK 8824 TD was allegedly drowsy and collided with the vehicle ahead.

Police secured both trucks at the scene for further inquiry. “Untuk proses penyelidikan lebih lanjut kedua truk yang terlibat kami amankan di unit laka lantas,” Hariyanto continued. The front body of the diesel truck was severely bent, complicating the rescue operation.

“Korban meninggal merupakan seorang balita berusia 5 tahun, yang merupakan penumpang truk DK 8824 TD. Ia meninggal dunia akibat terjepit di dasbor,” he explained. The child was transported to RSUD Abdoer Rahem, Situbondo but did not survive the journey.

“Untuk mengevakuasi korban, imbuhnya, sempat kesulitan karena terjepit. Korban meninggal dalam perjalanan menuju RSUD Abdoer Rahem, Situbondo,” Hariyanto noted. “Akibat kerasnya benturan, bodi depan truk diesel ringsek parah. Sehingga proses evakuasi korban cukup lama,” he added.

The tragedy underscores the critical need for driver alertness and strict adherence to road safety regulations on Indonesia’s busy highways.
