On 15 April 2026, the Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji (BPKH) held its BPKH Insight program at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) in Bandung. The event aimed to boost hajj financial literacy among young people, especially students, encouraging them to plan their pilgrimage early in life.

The program was part of BPKH’s strategy to broaden public understanding of how hajj funds are managed transparently, professionally, and in line with Sharia principles. By engaging the academic community, BPKH hopes to nurture a generation that values disciplined financial planning for sacred duties.

About 500 participants gathered at the UPI campus, including students, faculty, and other members of the academic community. Their presence underscored the growing interest in financial education related to religious obligations.

Key figures from BPKH attended the event. Harry Alexander, a member of the BPKH Executive Board, and Juni Supriyanto, Deputy for Fund Collection, were joined by Ratih Hurriyati, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Economics and Business at UPI. Their participation highlighted the partnership between the public institution and the university.

In her opening remarks, Ratih Hurriyati emphasized the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and public bodies. The dean’s words reflected her belief that academic settings can serve as fertile ground for practical financial learning.

Harry Alexander followed with a discussion on the strategic role of hajj fund management. He explained that BPKH is committed to safeguarding and investing the funds responsibly. “Melalui BPKH Insight, kami ingin memperkuat pemahaman generasi muda bahwa pengelolaan keuangan haji dilakukan secara profesional, transparan, dan sesuai prinsip syariah. Dana haji dikelola melalui instrumen investasi syariah yang aman dan produktif untuk memberikan nilai manfaat optimal bagi jemaah,” he said. His remarks aimed to build confidence in the institution’s stewardship.

Beyond the formal seminar, the program featured an inspirational talkshow with Handy Bonny and Aidil Akbar. The two speakers addressed the mental and financial readiness required for a successful hajj experience.

Handy Bonny encouraged the youth to nurture the intention to perform hajj early. He said, “Haji bukan hanya tentang kemampuan, tapi juga tentang kesiapan hati dan niat. Anak muda perlu mulai menanamkan keinginan berhaji sejak sekarang, karena semakin dini dipersiapkan, semakin besar peluang untuk segera memenuhi panggilan Allah.” His message resonated with students who were contemplating their future spiritual goals.

Aidil Akbar focused on long‑term financial planning. His practical advice highlighted the importance of disciplined savings and investment choices.

The event’s format combined a conventional seminar, a talkshow, and an interactive discussion session. Participants engaged enthusiastically, especially during the Q&A segment where they explored topics ranging from the mechanics of hajj fund management to actionable financial strategies for early planning.

Through BPKH Insight, the organization seeks to expand the public’s understanding of hajj financial planning and to strengthen trust in how the funds are handled. By targeting the younger demographic, BPKH hopes to foster a generation that is both spiritually and financially prepared to undertake the pilgrimage.

With increased literacy, the expectation is that future generations will approach hajj with a solid foundation of knowledge and readiness, ensuring that the sacred duty is fulfilled in a manner that aligns with both faith and sound financial practice.
