On 29 Maret 2026, the Twitter (X) account VECERT Analyzer posted a shocking announcement.

The warning stated that millions of Bandung residents' personal data had been breached and could be misused by hackers.

PERINGATAN: Kebocoran Database Penduduk Bandung,” wrote the account in its post.

“Kami mendeteksi kebocoran data besar yang berdampak pada Kota Bandung, Indonesia. Pelaku ancaman dengan nama “petrusnism” telah merilis sebuah database yang berisi informasi pribadi rinci dari lebih dari 1 juta warga, yang diduga diambil secara ilegal dari catatan resmi kependudukan,” ucapnya.

“Korban: Database Penduduk Bandung, Indonesia Pelaku: petrusnism. Jumlah data: +1.000.000 baris (data individu). Tanggal kebocoran: Maret 2026 (kemungkinan kejadian baru-baru ini),” tutup unggahan tersebut.

“Mangga ditelusuri dulu, nuhun infonya,” pungkasnya.

VECERT Analyzer is a cybersecurity and CTI account that focuses on critical analysis and research into digital threats. They have frequently issued warnings about data breaches affecting companies and government sectors worldwide.

The account accused the hacker group Petrunism of orchestrating the breach. The group allegedly obtained detailed personal information of more than 1 juta Bandung residents.

After the warning, a responsible party directly asked the head of Bandung’s Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil), Tatang Muhtar. He said he would investigate the information first through a short message.

The incident highlights the high risk of personal data security in the public sector. The spread of this information underscores the persistent vulnerability of citizen data to evolving cyber threats.
