Lampion Waisak Terbang di Borobudur, Drone Show 570 Unit

On 31 Mei 2026, at 23.02 WIB, a ceremony was held at Candi Borobudur where a lampion Waisak was released.

The Wakil Presiden Gibran Rakabuming Raka and several ministers gathered, holding a large lampion together before letting it soar into the night sky.

Prior to the launch, a peace lantern was lit. At 22.31 WIB, a drone show depicting the life of Buddha Gautama was performed. The show featured 570 drone and was staged twice.

Visitors from outside the city were drawn to the event, including Soleh (38) from Cimahi, who came specifically to release a lampion.

“Pengin menerbangkan lampion, tapi dapat tiket menonton lampion,” kata Soleh (38) warga Cimahi saat ditemui di Candi Borobudur.

“Drone show so far bagus tak menyangka di Indonesia ada. Sebelumnya lihat di televisi, ini lebih seru dan berkesan. Apalagi buat anak-anak,” katanya yang datang bersama keluarganya.

The launch took place on Marga Utama Candi Borobudur and marked a Waisak celebration that blended tradition with modern technology, offering a memorable experience for all attendees.
